Employment History

Jones Land Surveying, 11/04 to Present, Sole Proprietor.  Founded Jones Land Surveying on November 3, 2004, in Sacramento County, California.  As sole proprietor, responsible for all aspects of the business from research to field surveying to map production and recordation, if required, and administration.  My primary focus is on private owner and/or small projects related to boundary issues.  I have worked on lot and block surveys in old urban subdivisions as well as larger “ranch” style lots in rural areas in Sacramento, Sierra and El Dorado Counties.  I have worked with land owners to resolve minor boundary disputes with neighbors, as well as worked on private environmental monitoring well projects in Sacramento and Stanislaus Counties.                 

California Department of Parks and Recreation, 05/05 to 10/11.  Transportation Surveyor Party Chief, (09/10 to 10/11, 05/05 to 08/10 as Transportation Surveyor) for the Acquisition and Real Property Services Division, Surveys and Ownership Section.  Performed office and field work associated with State Park ownership and boundary tasks as a first-line supervisor.  As Survey Party Chief in responsible charge for boundary research, locating monuments, field surveys utilizing the latest conventional and GPS surveying equipment and methods, boundary analysis, setting final boundary monuments and filing records of survey.  Primary office duties included legal reviews of new acquisitions, easements and leases into or on park property.  Wrote legal descriptions and created plats when needed for acquisitions, easements or leases.  Performed/prepared real property reviews/exhibits to assist legal staff on park property when judicial proceedings were required.

California Department of Transportation, (Caltrans) 09/00 to 04/05.  Transportation Surveyor, for the Division of Engineering Services, Preliminary Investigations Branch.  Performed office and field survey work associated with bridges and non-standard retaining walls.  Office duties included data processing of field-generated surveys from various sources inside and outside of Caltrans.  Produced foundation plans for use by bridge design engineers.

CH2M Hill, 01/99 to 08/00.  Acting Survey Manager in the Sacramento office.  Responsible for all activities performed by the survey staff.  Prepared cost estimates for survey services for the various clients inside and outside of the Sacramento office.  Coordinated survey staff with project managers both inside and outside of the Sacramento office.  Performed and or directed data reduction on all survey work performed by survey staff.  Preformed quality checks on work prepared by survey staff.  Performed conventional and GPS-RTK surveying and data processing as well as assist other CH2M Hill offices.  01/90 to 12/98.  Project Surveyor.  Performed office and field work associated with various engineering disciplines including site civil, transportation, water resources, and environmental.  Coordinated field survey requirements with project engineers and managers.  Performed project layout and survey control, organized and prepared data collection, and provided on-site health and safety.  09/85 to 12/89.  Engineering Technician in the Sacramento and Fresno offices.  Performed office and field work associated with various engineering disciplines including surveying, site civil, environmental, and water resources.
